I am watching the congressional hearing featuring Attorney General Loretta Lynch before the House Judiciary Committee. . . And I am getting angry.
If you have not seen the testimony of AG Lynch before the committee and you have high blood pressure, then I encourage you NOT to watch it. Because the disrespect being shown to our AG is unconscionable.
She's a Democratic political appointee and this is a controversial issue to Republicans, so I expected hostility, but the treatment of AG Lynch goes beyond hostility into bigotry. As Republicans realized that AG Lynch would not comment on the Clinton E-mail trumped-up investigation beyond referring them to FBI Director Comey's testimony, they have become nasty. These tactics include cutting off her responses within the first few words of the response, insulting her integrity and questioning her competence.
A perfect example is provided by Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte at about 12:15 pm, who interrupted his Republican colleague Jim Jordan to say this:
General Lynch we are now about halfway through the members of this committee asking questions and your refusal to answer questions regarding one of the most important investigations of someone running for the highest office in the land is an abdication of your responsibility. This is a very important issue of whether or not the Justice Department will uphold the rule of law in this country and I hope that with the questions will be forthcoming now you will be more forthcoming with your answers.
AG Lynch is not acting in any way different than thousands of witnesses before committees. Nor does her referring the committee members to the the FBI director in any way inappropriate. And yet, we have the above statement from the committee chair. The constant interruption of her responses because they are not hearing the answers they want and the utter disrespect shown to a public servant doing her job.
Fuck the Republicans! Fuck Chair Goodlatte! Fuck Jim Sensenbrenner! Fuck Darrell Issa! Fuck Jason Chaffetz! Fuck Jim Jordan!
If you cannot show a modicum of respect and decency for a good public servant, then I have none for you.
