And Jeff also points out that the DCCC has added the following candidates to the Emerging Races list:

● CA-21: Emilio Huerta

● CA-49: Doug Applegate

● KS-03: Jay Sidie

● MI-06: Paul Clements

● MI-08: Suzanna Shkreli

● PA-16: Christina Hartman

● SC-05: Fran Person

● VA-05: Jane Dittmar

I am going to highlight the two AMAZING California candidates that were included in today's announcement. The first is the impressive son of a legend: Emilio Huerta.

Emilio Huerta (D-CA), lawyer and activist, who will defeat David Valadao (R-CA) in California's 21st district Future Rep. Emilio Huerta

Emilio Huerta is the son of legendary labor activist Dolores Huerta, who founded the labor group that would become UFW. So already, we know that he is deeply connected to those fighting for the most distressed in the California and the US economy.

Yet if that were his only qualification, then he would be no better that GWB. Thankfully, there are many reasons to support Emilio Huerta. And unlike GWB, Mr. Huerta's resume is filled with accomplishments and not just trading on his parent's name. Yet, I'll let Emilio tell you what he's done:

From Huertaforcongress.com:

Prior to attending California State University Bakersfield, Emilio served as a labor negotiator, representing farmworkers throughout California who won their right to organize and collectively bargain under the Agricultural Labor Relations Act. Emilio has always believed that successful nonprofit organizations can improve the lives of low-income families. Accordingly, Emilio has served as corporate counsel for Omni Family Health (a Kern County based FQHC community based health organization serving low-income farmworker families throughout Kern County), the Cesar Chavez Foundation (formerly the National Farm Workers Service Center, Inc.), Radio Campesina, and the Dolores Huerta Foundation. He served as a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA), and is a national representative for the United Farm Workers union. As general counsel for the Cesar Chavez Foundation, he helped develop more than $400 million in low-income affordable housing in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. His knowledge of real estate, nonprofit law, and public financing has resulted in the development and construction of primary health clinics in Kern County, Los Angeles, and San Diego, California.

And unsurprisingly, Mr. Huerta's positions show him to be a person worthy to follow in his mother's footsteps to make positive changes for our country.

Future Rep. Douglas Applegate

Ret. Colonel Douglas Applegate (former Marine JAG attorney) also has an amazing record of service to our country. Colonel Applegate joined the Marine Corps shortly before Saigon fell. First serving as an infantry officer and then as a Judge Advocate, Doug has seen service in Vietnam, Ramadi, Baghdad and Fallujah. After retiring from the Marine Corps following a 32-year career, Colonel Applegate went into private legal practice. Last year, Colonel Applegate decided to run against one of the most venal Republicans in office today - Darrell Issa.

But if you thought his service to our country was great, just take a look at his platform. I will give you just one sentence of his platform to show what a great candidate he is and I greatly encourage you to read the rest at his website:

EQUAL RIGHTS have made America strong and unique from any other country  in the world.  I will settle for no less than a 100% rating for Equal Pay, Fight for $15, Equal access, Equal Reproductive Health and Pro-Choice.

IS THAT A PROGRESSIVE OR WHAT?!?

Please do what you can do support these two amazing candidates, including donating as much or as little as you can.

Please contribute $3 to the ACTIVIST, Emilio Huerta for Congress.

Please contribute $3 to the COLONEL, Douglas Applegate for Congress.
